Technical Superintendent – Fleet

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to join our technical management team in Dakar, Senegal. The role focuses on ensuring safe, reliable and cost‑effective technical performance of assigned vessels, with particular emphasis on maintenance, dry‑docking, inspections and fleet availability.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily technical and operational activities of assigned vessels, monitor performance, reliability and compliance with class, flag state and statutory requirements.
• Plan, coordinate and lead vessel repairs, refits and dry‑docking projects, working with shipyards, contractors and internal workshops.
• Manage spare‑part procurement, technical budgets and cost control, ensuring availability of critical spares and adherence to approved budgets.
• Ensure implementation of HSSEQ policies, support audits and promote a strong safety culture across the fleet.
• Lead and develop technical personnel, conduct competency assessments and foster a collaborative “One Team” environment.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering and STCW III/2 – Chief Engineer certification.
• Recent experience as a Chief Engineer on tugs, workboats or similar port vessels.
• Strong knowledge of international maritime safety, statutory requirements and vessel machinery.
• Excellent English communication skills; French is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and MS Project (or equivalent tools).
• Experience with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) and vessel technical reporting.
• Hands‑on expertise in vessel repair, dry‑docking management and spare‑parts logistics.
