Trafficking in Persons & Migrant Smuggling Internship

About the role

This unpaid internship is based in the Anti-Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling (TIPSOM) Unit of the UNODC Regional Office for West and Central Africa in Dakar. The intern will support the Associate Programme Officer and the Regional Programme Coordinator in implementing and monitoring the TIPSOM programme portfolio, including the PROMIS project.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and revising detailed work plans for programme implementation.
• Contribute to daily implementation of programme activities and monitor progress against work plans.
• Document programme progress, bottlenecks and collect up‑to‑date information from various sources.
• Support partners with guidance on project documentation and expense reporting.
• Provide administrative assistance for workshops, training seminars and other anti‑trafficking activities.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master) in law, international relations, administration, management or communication, or final year of a bachelor’s programme.
• Official university proof attached to the application.
• Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams.
• Ability to draft news articles or social media posts.
• Capability to design surveys and polls.
• General computer literacy in standard software applications.
