Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Manager

About the role

The Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Manager will design, deploy and operate VMI stores at remote mining sites, ensuring parts are available exactly when needed to support mechanical maintenance and equipment reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full setup and commissioning of VMI stores, from concept to go‑live, defining stocking lists, store layouts and infrastructure requirements.
• Manage inventory accuracy, min/max levels, reorder parameters and replenishment rules, while controlling surplus, slow‑moving and dead stock.
• Monitor KPIs such as stock turns, surplus percentage, OTIF and downtime waiting for parts, and drive improvement initiatives.
• Act as the technical interface between maintenance, reliability, supply‑chain and operations teams, participating in planning meetings and escalating risks.
• Produce operational reports, lead inventory counts and ensure documentation compliance for finance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, logistics or supply chain (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 7 years of experience in heavy mining equipment maintenance and technical inventory management.
• Proven experience working in remote mining environments.
• Professional working proficiency in English and a valid driving licence.

Required skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge of mining equipment and component failure modes.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and inventory management tools.
• Understanding of logistics and warehousing principles, including storage compliance.
• Familiarity with OEM systems (e.g., SIS).
