Assistant Comptable

About the role

Maersk, a global leader in integrated logistics, is looking for an Assistant Comptable to join its finance team in Dakar. This position offers the chance to work in a multinational, Global 500 environment, interacting daily with international colleagues and gaining exposure to global finance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring timely completion of team deliverables.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and invoicing activities.
• Monitor financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Support cost accounting, including cost allocation, analysis and variance reporting.
• Assist in budget preparation, monitoring and reporting to support business performance.
• Resolve operational issues by applying established processes and selecting appropriate solutions.

Required profile

• Experience in accounting operations, finance, accounts payable/receivable or related financial disciplines.
• Practical knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, budgeting processes and cost accounting methodologies.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and experience leading or supervising employees.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with financial systems and reporting tools.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
