Regional Business Development Director

About the role

Plan International is seeking a Regional Business Development Director to act as a strategic catalyst for its Country Offices across the West and Central Africa (WACA) region. The role focuses on diversifying and scaling funding streams, from traditional ODA to innovative climate finance, blended finance, and philanthropic partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead donor engagement across the region and build high‑value strategic partnerships.
• Identify and unlock innovative financing models and emerging donor markets.
• Support Country Offices with high‑quality, multi‑country proposal development.
• Strengthen business development capacity, market intelligence, and resource mobilisation strategies.
• Represent Plan International with governments, donors, and intergovernmental bodies.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in fundraising, partnerships, or business development within the development/humanitarian sector.
• Proven track record of influencing external stakeholders and securing diverse funding sources.
• Strong strategic leadership skills in a matrixed, multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities at senior‑level.
