Strategy and Planning Officer (SURAGGWA-PAGGW)

About the role

The Strategy and Planning Officer will support the SURAGGWA‑PAGGW programme by ensuring strategic coherence across eight Sahelian countries and partners, developing robust multi‑year plans, and aligning interventions with national, regional and global frameworks. The role is based in the Sub‑Regional Office for West Africa in Dakar, Senegal.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and adapt policies and procedures to promote inter‑departmental and inter‑agency collaboration in strategic planning, results‑based programming and budgeting.
• Prepare, review and analyse the organisation’s Strategic Framework, Medium‑Term Plan, Programme of Work and Budget reports.
• Design and operate procedures and systems for work planning, allotments and results‑based monitoring and reporting.
• Develop and refine results frameworks, logical frameworks and impact pathways for the SURAGGWA programme.
• Integrate gender equality, social protection, youth, nutrition and climate resilience into planning instruments.
• Provide strategic planning guidance to FAO representatives and country project teams to ensure coherence between national interventions and the regional programme.
• Facilitate multi‑stakeholder planning workshops and support the establishment of National GGW Coalitions.
• Compile data and draft regional progress reports, briefs and dashboards aligned with Green Climate Fund requirements.
