Payroll Lead

About the role

The Payroll Lead will oversee employee taxation, statutory compliance, and labor law adherence across Francophone African countries. You will act as the primary liaison with government authorities, auditors, payroll vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely payroll operations.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply local payroll legislation, employment laws, and statutory regulations.
• Manage income tax, social security, pension, leave, and severance compliance.
• Coordinate monthly and annual tax filings, statutory reports, and employee tax certificates.
• Monitor legislative changes and implement process updates.
• Lead liaison with tax authorities, labor departments, and regulatory bodies.
• Support internal and external payroll audits and maintain audit documentation.
• Partner with payroll vendors, Finance, HR, Legal, and business stakeholders.
• Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, Law, Business Administration or related field.
• 8–12 years of payroll and statutory compliance experience, preferably across multiple West African countries.
• Fluent French and strong English communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP, Workday, Oracle HCM.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for payroll reporting and dashboards.
• Strong knowledge of local payroll taxation, labor law, and social security regulations.
• Experience in vendor and stakeholder management.
