Programme Policy Officer – Expert en agroalimentaire et pertes post‑récolte

About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking a Programme Policy Officer to provide expert guidance on agri‑food technologies, post‑harvest loss management and quality control. Based in Dakar, Senegal, the position supports WFP’s 2025‑2029 strategic plan to strengthen food systems and improve access to nutritious, safe food.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement policies and technical guidelines for food processing and value‑chain improvement (rice, millet, sorghum, etc.).
• Lead initiatives to reduce post‑harvest losses and ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
• Provide technical assistance and capacity‑building to national partners and WFP field teams.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of interventions related to food processing and quality control.
• Coordinate with the Country Office, regional units and external stakeholders to align activities with WFP’s strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Food Technology, Agriculture, Nutrition or a related field.
• Significant experience in agri‑food processing, post‑harvest loss reduction and quality assurance, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong knowledge of food processing equipment, hazard analysis and risk management.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural teams and adapt to challenging environments.
