Coordinator, Logistics and Supply Chain

About the role

The British Red Cross Coordinator, Logistics and Supply Chain will manage logistics activities across Africa, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of supplies to National Societies and other Movement partners. The role supports strategic partnerships, emergency response, and preparedness initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate logistics operations with National Societies, British Red Cross teams and other partners, designing effective supply‑chain solutions.
• Develop and implement supply‑chain strategies for emergency response and preparedness, including cash and voucher assistance logistics.
• Provide technical support and capacity‑building to partners, fostering locally led responses.
• Manage regionally based logistics staff, overseeing recruitment, monitoring and development plans.
• Ensure compliance with local legislation, donor requirements and BRC policies.

Required profile

• University degree in logistics and/or supply‑chain management, with relevant professional courses.
• Experience in humanitarian logistics in Africa, especially emergency response, disaster management and CVA programming.
• Proven ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and work with National Societies, IFRC and other partners.
• Strong knowledge of African logistics infrastructure, multimodal transport and border procedures.

Required skills

• Use of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
• Inventory control methods such as Just‑In‑Time (JIT) and flexible inventory management.
• Data analysis to optimise logistics operations and reduce costs.
• Risk‑management strategies for continuity of humanitarian response.
• Budgeting, cost control and financial analysis in humanitarian settings.
