Mine Technical Services Manager

About the role

The Technical Services Manager reports to the Mine Manager and leads the Technical Services department. The role is responsible for strategic mine design, modelling and planning from mine to mill, ensuring optimal extraction of resources while meeting short, medium and long‑term objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and issue drill‑and‑blast designs for development headings, slot raises and production stopes, optimizing burden, spacing, charging and timing.
• Maintain the Technical Services programme across Geotechnical, Hydrogeology, Mine Planning Engineering, Production Engineering and Survey.
• Create functional work plans and schedules to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual mine targets.
• Provide technical expertise for mine design, engineering and economic modelling, including Life‑of‑Mine designs.
• Manage the business unit’s budget, monitor costs, approve purchases within delegated limits and ensure timely reporting.
• Ensure compliance with safety, licensing, training and equipment requirements for all personnel.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a multi‑disciplinary technical services team in a mining environment.
• Strong knowledge of drill‑and‑blast design, geotechnical and hydrogeological principles.
• Expertise in mine planning, production engineering, surveying and economic modelling.
• Demonstrated ability to develop Life‑of‑Mine plans and control costs.
• Experience in budgeting, cost variance analysis and financial reporting.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
