Operations Officer – Sustainable Infrastructure Advisory

About the role

The Sustainable Infrastructure Advisory (SIA) team at IFC seeks an Operations Officer to drive sustainable infrastructure engagements across West Africa. You will support the full project lifecycle, from business development to portfolio management, delivering climate‑smart and socially inclusive solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sustainability risk and opportunity assessments for infrastructure clients.
• Design and develop proposals and pitches for IFC advisory engagements.
• Collaborate with investment, ESG, legal and other teams to craft tailored sustainability solutions.
• Prepare legal agreements and concept notes based on client terms.
• Manage project implementation, including work plans, budgets, field missions and quality assurance.
• Oversee service providers and consultants to ensure compliance and delivery standards.
• Build and maintain relationships with governments, private sector actors and development partners.
• Develop community engagement and stakeholder management strategies.
• Contribute to knowledge materials, best‑practice guides and peer‑review processes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in business, finance, engineering, sustainable development or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in private infrastructure sustainability, sustainable finance or climate‑smart investment services.
• Strong understanding of the SDGs, ESG principles and sustainability reporting.
• Proven ability to design and manage complex advisory operations.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and French.
• Excellent analytical and critical‑thinking skills with private‑sector development expertise in Africa.
