Payroll Lead – Francophone Africa

About the role

This position leads payroll operations across Francophone African countries, ensuring full compliance with local tax, labor, and social security regulations. You will act as the primary liaison with government authorities, auditors, and internal stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely payroll services.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply local payroll legislation, employment laws, and statutory regulations.
• Manage statutory registrations, renewals, and ongoing compliance activities.
• Coordinate monthly and annual tax filings, social security declarations, and employee tax certificates.
• Monitor legislative changes and implement payroll process updates.
• Serve as the main contact for tax authorities, labor departments, and regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.
• Support internal and external payroll audits and maintain comprehensive audit documentation.
• Partner with payroll vendors, Finance, HR, Legal, and business units to ensure high‑quality payroll delivery.
• Identify and drive improvements in payroll processes, controls, and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, Law, Business Administration or related field.
• 8–12 years of payroll and statutory compliance experience, preferably across multiple West African countries.
• Professional certification in Payroll, Taxation, or Labor Law is a plus.
• Fluent in English and French.
