Principal Geologist – Exploration (Morocco)

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Geologist to lead Fortescue’s Morocco exploration portfolio. The role will shape the company’s international growth by directing geological interpretation, exploration strategy and project generation across copper, gold, iron ore and other critical minerals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the Morocco exploration portfolio.
• Develop regional geological interpretations and mineral‑systems models to guide targeting.
• Lead project and target generation, portfolio prioritisation and exploration work‑program reviews.
• Identify and evaluate new exploration opportunities, partnerships and acquisitions.
• Mentor and develop exploration geologists, strengthening team capability.
• Support investment decisions with high‑quality technical analysis and recommendations.
• Prepare technical reports and present outcomes to senior leadership.
• Promote a strong safety, collaboration and continuous‑improvement culture.

Required profile

• Degree in Geology or related Earth Science.
• Minimum 15 years of exploration experience with proven technical leadership.
• Successful track record in greenfield exploration, project generation and mineral discovery.
• Deep understanding of mineral systems, structural geology and regional interpretation.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring geologists.
• Fluent French; English proficiency highly regarded.
• Valid driver’s licence.
