Programme Coordinator (Head of Pillar) – Temporary

About the role

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking a temporary Programme Coordinator to act as Head of Pillar for Law Enforcement and Border Management in its West and Central Africa Regional Office. Reporting to the Deputy Regional Representative, the role provides strategic and operational oversight for key programmes and projects.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate substantive initiatives, projects and programmes within the Law Enforcement and Border Management Pillar.
• Lead the implementation of the XAMU50 programme supporting member states in criminal‑justice responses to transnational organised crime and terrorism.
• Identify emerging needs, gaps and synergies across the pillar’s mandate and align them with regional priorities.
• Develop and manage joint concept notes and project proposals with development partners to ensure coordinated resource mobilisation.
• Liaise with ROSEN programme offices, UNODC headquarters and national project teams to deliver streamlined technical assistance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in coordinating programmes and projects, preferably in law enforcement, border management or related fields.
• Ability to provide substantive, technical, programmatic and administrative advice to senior UN officials.
• Strong collaboration skills with regional, national and international stakeholders.
