Resident Coordinator – UN Development System (Senegal)

About the role

The Resident Coordinator is the highest‑ranking United Nations development system representative in Senegal. Reporting to the Secretary‑General, the RC leads the UN Country Team and ensures coordinated implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and the 2030 Agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the United Nations at the highest governmental level and foster engagement with civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners, academia and the private sector.
• Lead and coordinate the UN Country Team (UNCT) to deliver integrated development programmes aligned with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.
• Ensure system‑wide accountability and reporting to both the Secretary‑General and the host government on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
• Facilitate a matrixed dual‑reporting model across UN agencies, ensuring coherent and efficient delivery of development assistance.
• Advocate for accelerated action on the Sustainable Development Goals and promote inclusive, poverty‑eradication strategies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international development coordination and UN system operations.
• Proven leadership of multi‑agency teams and ability to manage complex stakeholder environments.
• Deep understanding of the 2030 Agenda, Sustainable Development Goals, and related UN frameworks.
• Strong diplomatic, negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a politically sensitive and multicultural context.
