Accounting Manager – Finance Lead for Maternity Cover

About the role

Ria Senegal is looking for an Accounting Manager to lead the local finance function on a six‑month maternity cover contract. The role covers both the core money‑transfer operator business and a newly launching mobile wallet product, overseeing day‑to‑day accounting, tax compliance, reporting and financial forecasting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full monthly close process for the MTO operation and the mobile wallet entity, including journal entries, accruals and general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for local and regional review.
• File monthly VAT returns and handle corporate income tax, withholding tax and other statutory filings, liaising with local tax authorities and external advisors.
• Support the maintenance of MTO and e‑money licences, ensure compliance with local company law, audit requirements and AML/CFT reporting.
• Monitor cash positions, liquidity and trust accounts for the mobile wallet float.
• Lead and develop the local finance team, acting as the primary finance contact for management, Group/Regional Finance and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional accounting qualification (e.g., DECOFI, DSCG, ACCA, CPA) preferred.
• 5+ years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in remittance, payments, fintech or mobile money.
• Strong knowledge of Senegalese/UEMOA tax and VAT rules and OHADA accounting standards.
• Fluent French and working proficiency in English.
• High attention to detail, ability to work independently in a fast‑moving, growth‑stage environment.
