Accounting Manager

About the role

Ria Senegal is looking for an Accounting Manager to cover a six‑month maternity leave. The role will oversee accounting, tax, regulatory compliance and financial reporting for both the traditional money‑transfer business and a new mobile‑wallet product.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full monthly close for the MTO operation and the mobile‑wallet entity, including journal entries, accruals and general‑ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for local and regional review.
• File monthly VAT returns, handle corporate income tax, withholding tax and other statutory filings, and liaise with local tax authorities.
• Produce monthly forecasts, rolling forecasts and support the annual budgeting process, providing variance analysis and financial modelling for new corridors and mobile‑wallet volume growth.
• Support regulatory compliance for MTO and e‑money licences, coordinate annual audits and ensure AML/CFT reporting.
• Monitor cash positions, liquidity and trust‑account requirements for the mobile‑wallet float.
• Lead and develop the local finance team and act as the primary finance contact for management, Group/Regional Finance and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional accounting qualification (e.g., DECOFI, DSCG, ACCA, CPA) preferred.
• 5+ years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in remittance, payments, fintech or mobile‑money environments.
• Strong knowledge of Senegalese/UEMOA tax, VAT and OHADA accounting standards; familiarity with BCEAO regulatory requirements is a plus.
• Proven experience with monthly close, reconciliations, financial forecasting and FP&A.
• Fluent French and working proficiency in English.
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast‑moving, growth‑stage environment.
