AML Transaction Monitoring Analyst

About the role

Wave is building a cash‑less Africa and needs an AML Transaction Monitoring Analyst to join its Financial Security Team in Dakar. You will investigate alerts generated by the AML monitoring system, help reduce false positives, and support the detection and reporting of suspicious activity.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct investigations on alerts produced by the AML Transaction Monitoring system.
• Enhance alert rules to lower false‑positive rates and prioritize high‑risk cases.
• Assist the Financial Security Manager in reviewing and preparing reports from other analysts.
• Identify weaknesses in the monitoring system and propose improvement measures.
• Prepare and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) as required.
• Gather and relay information to law‑enforcement or financial intelligence authorities.
• Support the implementation of regulator‑issued embargo restrictions.

Required profile

• Experience investigating money‑laundering trends and complex AML cases.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with the compliance team.
• Work authorization for Senegal.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.

Required skills

• Fluent in French (spoken and written).
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
