Assistant Legal Counsel

About the role

Wave is building a cashless Africa and needs legal expertise to support its rapid growth. As an Assistant Legal Counsel you will work with the Senegal legal team to manage legal risks, protect the company’s interests and enable business objectives across procurement and compliance functions.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate contracts related to the procurement of goods and services, with a focus on marketing, public relations and press services.
• Support contract drafting for core Wave products and services, ensuring commercial and legal protection while maximizing value.
• Lead complex, high‑value contract negotiations and improve the overall contracting process.
• Implement and maintain contract management tools, electronic signature solutions and archiving procedures.
• Implement group legal policies and propose updates based on legal developments and operational feedback.
• Collaborate with Risk and Controls teams to identify legal risks and design appropriate mitigations.
• Assist with data‑privacy compliance, employment matters, and the management of legal claims and disputes.

Required profile

• Law degree with solid understanding of commercial, procurement and regulatory law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating contracts, preferably in a fintech or fast‑growing environment.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with operational teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
