Assistant Legal Counsel

About the role

Wave is building a cashless Africa and needs an Assistant Legal Counsel to support its legal team in Senegal. You will help manage legal risks, protect the business, and ensure compliance while the company scales its financial services across the continent.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate procurement contracts, especially for marketing, public relations and press services.
• Support contract drafting for core Wave products and services, safeguarding commercial and legal interests.
• Lead complex, high‑value contract negotiations and improve the contracting process.
• Implement and update group legal policies, including data‑privacy and contract policies.
• Collaborate with Risk and Controls teams to identify legal risks and put in place mitigations.
• Provide general legal support on employment matters, claims, disputes and special projects.

Required profile

• Legal degree with relevant experience in contract law and procurement.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to provide clear, practical legal advice.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑growing environment.
