Driver and Tractor Operator (Locally Recruited)

About the role

CIMMYT is seeking a locally recruited driver to provide safe, reliable transportation and tractor operation services in support of field research and operational activities in Senegal.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely transport for staff, partners, consultants and visitors, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, roadworthiness and fuel levels.
• Operate tractors and related equipment for land preparation, planting, harvesting and other field tasks, including attaching implements and performing routine inspections.
• Maintain accurate vehicle and equipment logbooks, record fuel consumption and report any accidents, mechanical issues or breakdowns promptly.
• Ensure compliance with Senegalese traffic regulations, CIMMYT safety policies and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Secondary school education or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license for light vehicles and tractors/heavy vehicles.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a driver and/or tractor operator, preferably in rural/agricultural settings.
• Reliability, integrity and professionalism with good organizational and record‑keeping skills.

Required skills

• Vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Tractor operation and agricultural equipment handling.
• Knowledge of road safety regulations and workplace health and safety standards.
