About the role
We are seeking an Economist I/II to lead our Cost‑Effectiveness Unit (CEU) at IDinsight. The role blends rigorous economic analysis with practical implementation to embed cost‑effectiveness thinking across partner organisations.
Key responsibilities
- Build and lead the CEU, develop service offerings, create standardized methodologies, and grow the team as demand increases.
- Identify and develop client opportunities, work with NGOs, BINGOs and funders to embed cost‑effectiveness throughout project lifecycles.
- Lead cost‑effectiveness analyses, design lean interventions, implement cost monitoring systems, and collaborate on AI‑enabled cost optimisation.
- Contribute to sector‑wide thought leadership, publish frameworks, and represent IDinsight at conferences and with donors.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in economics, public policy or related field (Master’s minimum, PhD preferred).
- 5+ years experience in cost‑effectiveness, cost‑efficiency or related analysis within international development.
- Proven track record building cost‑analysis systems and translating economic evidence into operational decisions.
- Experience working with large implementing organisations such as NGOs, governments or multilaterals.
Required skills
- Cost modelling and sensitivity analysis.
- Financial analysis.
- Statistical software (Stata or R) and advanced Excel.
