Humanitarian Programme Associate

About the role

The Programme Associate will support UNFPA's humanitarian response in Senegal, working from the Dakar office and travelling frequently to field locations. Reporting to the Humanitarian Specialist, the role involves assessing emergencies, coordinating with partners, and contributing to the design and implementation of response plans.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in assessing emergency situations and identifying humanitarian needs in collaboration with sub‑office staff and program units.
• Support the preparation of humanitarian response plans, including contingency planning for commodities and distribution.
• Participate in inter‑agency assessments, delivery missions, and coordination meetings such as the Access Working Group.
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, documentation of best practices, and lessons learned for UNFPA humanitarian activities.
• Liaise with humanitarian partners to map needs, identify gaps, and coordinate response actions.
• Monitor risk factors and support inter‑agency contingency planning efforts.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian assessment, planning, or coordination, preferably within UN or NGO settings.
• Ability to work closely with sub‑national staff, partners, and government representatives.
• Strong analytical skills to translate field data into actionable response plans.
• Willingness to travel frequently to field sites and represent UNFPA in coordination groups.
