Regional Head of Operational Support Central and West Africa

About the role

The Regional Head of Operational Support ensures an integrated approach to operational management across Central and West Africa, supporting the quality and timeliness of NRC’s humanitarian response. As a member of the Regional Management Team, the postholder holds country offices accountable for operational standards and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure support functions (HR, Finance, Logistics, ICT, etc.) operate efficiently and foster a collaborative environment.
• Hold country offices accountable for operational progress using reports, analyses, and compliance data.
• Provide capacity building, problem‑solving, advice and mentorship to country directors, support heads and HAS managers.
• Participate in global planning and strategy discussions for support functions.
• Review finance, HR and logistics requirements for regional grants in collaboration with global PCM and Grants Management.
• Act on behalf of the Regional Director when required, including leading Crisis Management Teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of leadership/management experience in the humanitarian sector.
• Higher education in business administration, management, finance or a related field.
• Proven experience managing support functions such as finance, HR and logistics; security and safety experience is an added value.
• Experience working in complex and volatile contexts, with documented results.
• Fluency in English and French (written and verbal); knowledge of Central and West Africa contexts is an asset.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams and stakeholders.
