Information Extraction Specialist

About the role

The Information Extraction Specialist will design, build, and maintain pipelines that transform unstructured and semi‑structured data into structured, actionable datasets. Working remotely, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure high‑quality extraction across diverse domains such as legal, medical, financial, and technical documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement extraction pipelines for various document types, including contracts, medical records, and news articles.
• Lead the creation of training datasets, define sampling strategies, manage annotation teams, and perform quality assurance.
• Evaluate model performance using precision, recall, and F1 metrics; analyze errors and iterate on guidelines or model architecture.
• Assess and integrate open‑source and commercial extraction tools and platforms.
• Develop scripts and automated workflows to streamline the extraction process.
• Adapt extraction systems to new domains quickly by acquiring necessary domain knowledge.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in information extraction, NLP, or computational linguistics.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and NLP tasks.
• Experience designing annotation schemas and clear guidelines for complex extraction tasks.
• Strong understanding of evaluation methodologies and ability to interpret precision, recall, and F1 scores.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to document technical processes for diverse stakeholders.
