Legal & Compliance Associate – Francophone Markets

About the role

Honeycoin is seeking a mid‑level Legal & Compliance Associate to lead document review and regulatory work across its French‑speaking markets in Africa. You will negotiate NDAs, commercial contracts and licence applications in both French and English, ensuring deals move quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Review, redline and negotiate NDAs, partner, vendor and payment‑provider agreements in French and English, and provide clear sign‑off decisions.
• Draft and maintain a bilingual playbook of standard contract positions, fallback clauses and red lines.
• Prepare and submit licence applications and regulator correspondence for markets such as BCEAO, BEAC and COBAC, and track regulatory changes affecting products.
• Manage external counsel in each jurisdiction, scope work, control costs and support country managers with fast, practical legal input.

Required profile

• Law degree (bar admission optional) with 3–6 years of experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Professional fluency in French and English, both written and spoken, with ability to draft and translate legal documents.
• Strong commercial judgement to separate real risk from noise and to summarise complex agreements concisely.
• Proven high agency: self‑driven, meets deadlines without being chased, and reliably delivers signed contracts or lodged applications.
