Legal Counsel

About the role

Wave is building the first cashless continent in Africa. As a Legal Counsel you will support the Senegal legal team, focusing on marketing, public relations and corporate governance, ensuring the company’s activities comply with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to the Marketing, PR and Procurement teams on promotional activities and contracts.
• Review and draft contracts, supplier agreements and procurement documents to align with company interests and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all marketing communications and public relations materials comply with applicable laws.
• Engage with regulators and obtain necessary authorisations.
• Develop, implement and communicate internal policies, processes and procedures.
• Advise on regulations affecting the business, including e‑money, commercial, labour, civil and penal law.
• Collaborate with the Head of Legal to design risk‑mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Law degree with a strong understanding of Senegalese commercial and financial regulations.
• Experience supporting marketing, PR or procurement functions in a corporate environment.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate contracts.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.

Required skills

• Knowledge of e‑money and financial services regulation.
• Familiarity with commercial, labour, civil and penal law.
