About the role
The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Manager will lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of MEL systems across Greenpeace Africa’s programmes. Reporting to the Deputy Engagement Director, the role ensures that data and evidence are systematically generated, analysed and used to inform strategic decisions and enhance organisational learning.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive MEL framework aligned with organisational strategy, including indicator selection, target setting and data collection planning.
- Lead the creation of M&E strategies, log‑frames and quality‑assurance processes for all projects across multiple African offices.
- Analyse monitoring data, produce insights and support knowledge‑management activities in collaboration with communications teams.
- Provide training on data quality assurance and MEL requirements for staff and country offices.
- Coordinate continuous and end‑of‑project evaluations, surveys and other assessment tools.
- Represent MEL in internal and external meetings, delivering updates to stakeholders and contributing to the ODP annual submission.
Required profile
- Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning within international development or environmental NGOs.
- Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills to work with programme leads, senior management and external partners.
- Ability to design and adapt MEL tools and processes for diverse geographic contexts.
Required skills
- Experience designing MEL frameworks, indicators and data collection methodologies.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of knowledge‑management practices and quality‑assurance procedures.
