About the role
UN Women is seeking a Programme Specialist to lead the Gender and Green Economy portfolio for West and Central Africa. Based in Dakar, the specialist will design and implement strategies that promote gender‑responsive climate action and women’s participation in the green transition.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and formulate programme strategies and work plans on gender‑responsive climate action and green economy.
- Manage the technical implementation of projects, including budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
- Provide guidance on Results‑Based Management tools and performance indicators to staff and partners.
- Coordinate project steering committees, review meetings, and evaluations.
- Contribute to country strategy documents, policy briefs, and advocacy dialogues.
Required profile
- Relevant academic background in gender studies, environmental policy, development studies or a related field.
- Experience in managing climate‑related programmes or projects in West and Central Africa.
- Proven ability to work with government officials, donors, NGOs, and UN Women headquarters.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
Required skills
- Results‑Based Management methodology.
- Project budgeting and financial tracking.
- Monitoring and evaluation of development programmes.
