Project Development Officer – Migration Environment & Climate Change

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Project Development Officer to support its Migration Environment and Climate Change (MECC) programme in West and Central Africa. Reporting to the Regional Thematic Specialist on MECC, the incumbent will contribute to policy‑focused interventions, youth engagement and partnership building.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development, review and implementation of climate‑mobility projects.
• Organise and facilitate events, workshops and stakeholder meetings.
• Contribute to public and internal publications on migration and climate change.
• Monitor and report on project activities and outcomes.
• Strengthen engagement with governments, UN agencies, NGOs and other regional partners.
• Support policy analysis and the preparation of evidence‑based recommendations.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background (e.g., migration studies, environmental science, international development).
• Experience in project development, policy work and stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of climate‑related migration issues in West and Central Africa.
• Strong communication skills in English; ability to work in a multicultural environment.
