Regional Strategy, Programmes & Influencing Director

About the role

The Regional Strategy, Programmes & Influencing Director provides strategic leadership for Plan International’s work across West and Central Africa, aligning with the 2022‑2027 Global Strategy and ensuring high‑quality, gender‑transformative interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the realization of the global strategy in the WACA region through strategic programming, influencing interventions and partnership development.
• Lead the multidisciplinary regional Strategy, Programmes and Influencing department, supporting country offices and delivering impactful regional initiatives.
• Ensure programming and influencing initiatives increase impact, strengthen legitimacy and improve sustainability, coordinating closely with humanitarian programme leads.
• Represent Plan International’s agenda in regional multilateral platforms and liaise with UN, AU, EU offices.
• Support development and funding of multi‑country projects aligned with strategic priorities.
• Build and steward strategic networks with donors, governments and civil society, overseeing partnership management and programme quality.

Required profile

• Senior leader with proven experience managing cross‑functional, multi‑country teams and delivering strategy, programmes and influence in complex, dispersed organisations.
• Demonstrated success in networking, advocacy and policy engagement with government stakeholders across West and Central Africa.
• Strong expertise in rights‑based and gender‑transformative programming approaches.
• Fluent in English and French, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
