Research Assistant

About the role

The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for a proactive Research Assistant to support the upcoming HortiFuture project in Senegal, starting October 2026. The role focuses on potato seed systems and good agronomic practices, contributing to research outputs and project reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Implement day‑to‑day project activities related to potato seed systems, collaborating with partners such as ISRA.
• Collect, analyse, and document experimental data for internal discussion and potential publications.
• Monitor research activities across field sites to ensure successful execution of trials.
• Provide logistical and administrative support to maintain an effective project supply chain.
• Conduct statistical analysis of research data and draft reports for supervisory review.
• Guide technicians and students, supporting their professional development.
• Assist in preparing and delivering training workshops and stakeholder meetings.
• Produce activity reports and perform other project‑related tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Agricultural Engineer degree (with thesis completed) in Agronomy, Plant Pathology, seed production or related fields; postgraduate studies preferred.
• Minimum three years of experience in similar roles, preferably with seed potato production systems.
• Proficiency in French and good written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Advanced use of MS Office.
• Database management and data handling.
• Statistical analysis of experimental data.
