Security Associate

About the role

The Security Associate will support impactful security operations within the UNOPS Global Portfolios Office and the UNODC Regional Office for West and Central Africa. Based in Dakar, Senegal, the incumbent works under the Regional Representative and the Security Adviser, providing essential administrative and specialised assistance to maintain a safe environment for staff and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate safety and security matters with UNODC programme offices across West and Central Africa.
• Provide administrative support for security planning, risk assessments and incident reporting.
• Liaise with security focal points to ensure consistent implementation of UNOPS and UNODC security policies.
• Assist in the preparation of security briefings, travel clearances and emergency response procedures.
• Maintain up‑to‑date security documentation and support field operations as required.

Required profile

• Experience working in security or administrative roles within international or humanitarian settings.
• Ability to work under the authority of senior security officials and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and capacity to operate in challenging environments.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
