Senior Environmental Engineer/EIA Specialist

About the role

The Senior Environmental Engineer/EIA Specialist will lead the environmental impact assessment process for railway projects in Senegal, ensuring compliance with national regulations and donor safeguard requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for rail infrastructure projects.
• Develop and implement suitable Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and mitigation strategies.
• Ensure strict adherence to Senegalese DEEC regulations and local environmental frameworks.
• Prepare and manage ESMP/RAP documentation.
• Coordinate with donors such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank to meet safeguard standards.
• Lead stakeholder liaison, team management and present findings to senior management.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of EIA experience on rail projects, with documented EMP/RAP work.
• Expert knowledge of Senegalese DEEC regulations.
• Experience with donor safeguard compliance (World Bank, ADB, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication in French and English.
• Proven team‑management and stakeholder‑liaison abilities.
