Shipping Sales Executive

About the role

The IMAGESA Senegal agency in Dakar, which specialises in container handling and management and acts as the local representative of HMM, is looking for a Shipping Sales Executive. The role develops new business, manages and grows a customer portfolio and turns commercial leads into confirmed bookings. It involves customer visits, rate requests and negotiations, pipeline management, KPI reporting, market intelligence and coordination with Pricing, Operations and Management.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities across key trades
• Manage and grow a portfolio of customers and freight forwarders through regular visits and follow-ups
• Handle rate requests and negotiate rates with Pricing
• Convert sales leads and pipeline opportunities into confirmed bookings
• Maintain accurate data in the in-house system and tools
• Report weekly KPIs on rate requests, leads, volume, conversion rate and commercial activities
• Run a weekly commercial plan and take part in performance meetings
• Share market intelligence on competitors, pricing trends and local conditions
• Coordinate with Pricing, Operations and Management on priorities and targets
• Support business development through events, networking and trade fairs, promote e-commerce from Sales' side, create and review contracts before sailing

Required profile

• Previous experience in sales, business development, shipping, logistics or freight forwarding
• Strong commercial skills and ability to build customer relationships and turn opportunities into bookings
• Experience with rate requests, negotiations, sales pipelines and KPI monitoring
• Knowledge of shipping or commercial systems
• Good command of English; proactive commercial approach and strong relationship-building skills
