Special Events Worker I

About the role

The Special Events Worker I provides hands‑on support for academic, social and cultural events across Georgetown University campuses. This full‑time, on‑site role involves setting up, breaking down and moving equipment and furniture while ensuring safety and cleanliness.

Key responsibilities

• Install temporary flooring and protective carpet tiles for events and gym use.
• Load, unload, transport and assemble/disassemble tables, chairs, podiums, stages, coat racks and other event equipment.
• Operate moving equipment such as carts, dollies, hand trucks and pallet jacks.
• Maintain organized storage areas and inventory rooms.
• Perform custodial tasks including floor care, classroom and restroom cleaning, snow and ice removal, and emergency clean‑up of water or fire damage.
• Report missing, broken or unsafe equipment promptly.

Required profile

• Ability to perform routine lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling tasks safely.
• Willingness to work independently or as part of a team.
• Commitment to follow safety protocols and university policies.

Required skills

• Operating moving equipment (carts, dollies, hand trucks, pallet jacks).
• Using a variety of hand and power tools for furniture assembly.
