Instrument Technician – Marine & Process Systems

About the role

The Instrument Technician will support the operation and maintenance of instrumentation, control, and safety systems on board vessels and at shore‑based installations. The role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient performance of all related equipment in line with the approved maintenance programme.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation, control and safety systems to meet performance and compliance standards.
• Carry out first‑line maintenance, report faults and perform system isolations according to authorisation level.
• Calibrate fire and gas detection equipment, conduct routine checks and monitor alarms and machinery parameters.
• Record all maintenance actions and findings accurately in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Manage spare‑part usage, report deficiencies promptly and uphold housekeeping and environmental protection standards.
• Administer instrument equipment rooms and complete required reporting forms.
• Conduct thorough shift handovers with written and verbal briefings.
• Stop operations immediately if unsafe conditions are identified.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in electrical/electronic discipline or equivalent.
• Recognised certificate in Instrumentation & Control or equivalent.
• Certificate/proof of competence for work on EX‑certified systems.
• Minimum two years’ experience in control and instrumentation maintenance for process or utility systems in petrochemical, LNG carrier or similar environments.
• Relevant safety training and a valid Medical Certificate for the operating region.
