Loan Verification Officer

About the role

As a Loan Verification Officer at PalmPay, you will conduct high‑quality offline merchant verification visits across assigned local government areas, ensuring the authenticity and operational integrity of merchants applying for loans. Your work will protect portfolio quality, reduce credit losses, and support informed credit decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform in‑person verification visits to confirm store presence, business category, inventory levels, staff activity and trading patterns.
• Validate merchant identity and operational capacity through live observations and structured interviews.
• Collect, upload and geo‑tag required documents, ensuring compliance with internal and CBN standards.
• Engage merchants to understand cash‑flow, loan purpose and repayment capacity, and educate them on disbursement conditions.
• Prepare clear, factual verification reports, flag high‑risk cases and recommend follow‑up actions.
• Re‑visit post‑disbursement merchants to confirm fund utilization, assess repayment readiness and identify early‑stage risk signals.

Required profile

• 1–2 years experience as a Field Loan Officer, Verification Officer, Merchant Onboarding Officer or similar role in fintech, micro‑finance or digital lending.
• OND/HND or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• Comfortable with extensive field travel, self‑driven, accountable and able to thrive in fast‑moving, execution‑heavy environments.

Required skills

• Familiarity with mobile verification tools.
• Experience with geo‑tagging and documentation standards.
• Ability to use simple reporting dashboards.
