Sales Director – West Africa (Lubricants)

About the role

The Sales Director – West Africa will lead the lubricant business across the region, driving profitable growth, market share expansion, and strategic customer development. Based in a key regional hub such as Lagos, Accra, Abidjan, or Dakar, the role reports to the Regional Director / Vice President – Africa and oversees Country Sales Managers, Key Account Managers, Distributor Managers, Technical Sales Engineers, and Sales Support Teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the West Africa lubricant sales strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Deliver annual targets for sales volume, revenue, gross margin, and profitability.
  • Identify new business opportunities, emerging markets, and growth segments.
  • Manage and expand distributor networks, negotiate commercial agreements, and ensure alignment with brand objectives.
  • Lead key account negotiations with major industrial, mining, transportation, marine, and OEM customers.
  • Drive channel expansion, market coverage optimization, and product positioning across automotive, industrial, mining, marine, power generation, and construction sectors.
  • Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market trends.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop regional sales teams, establishing KPIs and performance management systems.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in developing and executing sales strategies for lubricant or related industrial products.
  • Track record of achieving revenue, volume, and margin targets.
  • Experience managing distributor networks and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Strong background in key account management with major industrial, mining, or transportation customers.
  • Ability to lead and develop high‑performance sales teams across multiple countries.
