Regional Business Development Director – West & Central Africa

About the role

The Regional Business Development Director will act as a strategic catalyst for Plan International’s country offices across West and Central Africa. The role focuses on diversifying and securing both traditional ODA funding and innovative financing streams to support locally‑led programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead donor engagement across the region and build high‑value strategic partnerships.
• Identify and unlock innovative financing models, including climate finance, development bank loans, CSR contracts, blended finance and philanthropic foundations.
• Support country offices with high‑quality, multi‑country proposal development aligned with regional priorities.
• Strengthen business development capacity, market intelligence and resource mobilisation strategies.
• Represent Plan International with governments, donors, intergovernmental bodies and commercial partners.
• Broaden regional influence by developing multi‑country investment opportunities and enhancing market positioning.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in fundraising, partnerships or business development within the development or humanitarian sector.
• Proven ability to influence external stakeholders and secure funding from diverse donors.
• Strong strategic leadership in resource mobilisation and matrixed environments.
• Excellent communication skills for high‑level representation and partnership building.
