IT & Data Science Internship (Dakar, Senegal)

About the role

PATH’s Epidemic Preparedness and Response programme in Dakar, Senegal is looking for an IT & Data Science Intern to support digital health surveillance initiatives. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to implement, maintain and analyse health data systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation and maintenance of DHIS2‑based surveillance systems.
• Collect, clean, validate and manage surveillance and program datasets.
• Develop scripts and automated workflows for data processing using Python or R.
• Explore machine‑learning approaches for public‑health data analysis.
• Build predictive models for trend analysis, outbreak detection or risk identification.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s degree in IT, Data Science or a related field.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
• Basic understanding of deep‑learning frameworks.
• Knowledge of machine‑learning techniques.
• Proficiency in Python or R.
• Experience with data analysis or digital health systems.
• Exposure to machine‑learning or AI projects.
