Sr Media & Communications Associate (Maternity cover)

About the role

The Senior Media & Communications Associate will support the Regional Office’s media strategy, raise awareness of IOM’s work, and ensure accurate migration narratives across media, UN, government and partner audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of the Regional Office Media and Communication Strategy and activities.
• Contribute to an Outreach and Communications Strategy to raise awareness of IOM’s work and promote an accurate migration narrative.
• Gather, draft and disseminate public information on IOM activities in the region, both in writing and verbally.
• Prepare press briefing notes, newsletters, website and social media content in clear, concise language with gender awareness.
• Coordinate closely with Regional and Country Offices on media, public information, event management and visibility issues.
• Provide logistical and technical support for global and UN‑led campaigns.

Required profile

• Education: High School with 7 years relevant experience or University degree in Media, Communications, Journalism or related field with 5 years experience.
• Experience: public information role at a UN or similar agency and experience working for a news media organization.
• Languages: fluency in English (oral and written).

Required skills

• Strong writing and editing skills in English.
• Knowledge of graphic design, web, social media and video production.
