Agronomist – Support Block Farming Projects

About the role

GBfoods Africa is seeking an Agronomist to work closely with the Senior Agronomist in delivering strategic agronomic support to farmers involved in its block farming initiative. The role aims to boost crop yields, improve farmer incomes, and ensure the sustainability of the program.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in crop production, soil control, and soil management activities.
• Identify and implement methods to maximize crop output per unit of land.
• Design and conduct experiments to optimize plant nutrition and soil health.
• Perform laboratory analyses of soil, seed, and crop samples.
• Prepare data analyses and present findings to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture; a Master's in Soil Science is a plus.
• Minimum three years of experience as an agronomist.
• Strong knowledge of soil and crop science principles.
• Excellent research, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills and fluency in Wolof.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
