Human Resources Officer – Professional Level

About the role

The International Organization for Migration is seeking a Human Resources Officer (Professional level) to lead HR activities at its Country Office in Senegal and support neighbouring offices. The role combines operational HR management with technical guidance across a multi‑country area of responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate HR functions of the Country Office in Senegal and its sub‑offices, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and local labour regulations.
• Provide technical HR guidance and support to other IOM Country Offices in the assigned Area of Responsibility (The Gambia, Sierra Leone, etc.), including recruitment, staff development and performance management.
• Collaborate closely with the Regional Office, Department of Human Resources and Administrative Centres to align HR activities with regional and global strategies.
• Assist the Chief of Mission or Head of Office in HR planning, budgeting and reporting.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Experience working in an international or UN‑related environment, preferably in migration or development contexts.
• Knowledge of UN staff categories and HR procedures.
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities, with fluency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
