About the role
The Humanitarian Communication and Advocacy Specialist will support UNICEF’s Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the wider West and Central Africa region. Working from the office, the specialist will design and implement communication strategies, engage stakeholders, and produce advocacy materials to strengthen evidence‑based actions.
Key responsibilities
- Provide regional and country‑level communication and advocacy support for the Ebola response.
- Conduct context and influencing‑landscape analysis for the DRC outbreak.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder maps and engagement strategies.
- Design and implement Ebola communication and advocacy strategies for the DRC.
- Coordinate advocacy materials such as talking points, briefing notes, and messaging packages.
- Identify evidence gaps and promote evidence‑based advocacy.
- Monitor progress, produce regular reports, and ensure consistent messaging across regions.
- Deliver capacity‑building and coaching to DRC country office teams, both remotely and on‑site.
- Create multi‑format communication content, including social media posts, press releases, human‑interest stories, and virtual field‑visit packages.
- Support coordination of advocacy actions among WCARO, DRC CO, GCCA, and EMOPS.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Communication, International Relations or a related field.
- Advanced expertise in humanitarian communication, advocacy or diplomacy.
- Experience in public‑health emergencies, preferably Ebola or similar outbreaks.
- Fluency in French and English (written and spoken).
- Familiarity with the UN system and humanitarian architecture.
