Mechanical Specialist

About the role

The Mechanical Specialist is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the plant’s mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. This senior position leads maintenance activities, develops asset‑management strategies, and supervises junior staff and contractors in a process‑plant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety standards, company policies, and environmental regulations.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to keep equipment in optimal condition.
• Develop and optimise maintenance strategies, monitor KPIs, and manage predictive‑maintenance programmes.
• Maintain asset integrity for machinery, mechanical systems, and instrumentation, ensuring compliance with company standards.
• Supervise junior engineers, technicians, and external contractors, providing technical guidance and performance oversight.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of supervisory/engineer experience, or a Diploma with a minimum of 10 years in a senior supervisory role within a gold‑processing plant.
• Extensive experience in mining, chemical, or mineral‑processing environments.
• Proven ability to lead maintenance teams in a process‑plant setting for at least 10 years.
• Strong analytical skills for root‑cause analysis and occupational‑hazard awareness.
• Fluent communication in both French and English.
