Underground Mining Manager – Fixed-Term (2 Years)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Underground Mining Manager on a two‑year fixed‑term contract to lead all aspects of our underground mining operations. The role will oversee the start‑up of new underground sites, drive performance, and shape the culture, systems and people needed for long‑term success.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational direction to ensure safe, efficient underground mining in line with approved mine plans and regulatory requirements.
• Lead safety, health and environmental initiatives, including hazard identification, risk management, incident investigations and compliance monitoring.
• Manage mine development, production, ground support, ventilation, mine services and contractor activities to meet production and development targets.
• Monitor operational performance, optimise equipment and workforce utilisation, and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in mine design reviews, planning meetings and resource development initiatives.
• Mentor and develop Mining Superintendents, engineers and operational staff, fostering a high‑performing, safety‑focused team culture.
• Oversee contractor management, ensuring contractual obligations, safety standards and productivity are met.
• Lead continuous‑improvement programmes to enhance productivity, efficiency and overall operational effectiveness.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading underground mining operations, preferably in a managerial capacity.
• Strong knowledge of mining legislation, safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large, multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
