Mining Production Superintendent

About the role

The Mining Production Superintendent oversees day‑to‑day operations in an open‑pit mining area, ensuring safe, efficient and cost‑effective production. Reporting to the Production Manager, the role drives operational excellence through strong safety leadership, technical expertise, effective scheduling and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and promote health, safety and environmental policies, ensuring compliance with all regulations and fatigue‑management procedures.
• Manage and optimise the use of mining equipment such as shovels and trucks to minimise downtime and meet production targets.
• Oversee loading, hauling, ore and waste delivery, and coordinate with geology, planning and engineering to optimise pit design and mining methods.
• Monitor performance metrics, identify improvement opportunities and drive productivity while reducing costs.
• Ensure appropriate staffing, training and competency levels to meet current and future operational needs.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in open‑pit mining operations, with a strong safety leadership record.
• Proven ability to manage large fleets, load‑haul cycles and technical services.
• Hands‑on presence in the pit, challenging the status‑quo and fostering a unified, high‑performing team.
• Commitment to ensuring all employees return home safely each day.
