National Society Development Consultant

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking a senior practitioner to support the development of the Senegalese and Mauritanian National Societies. Based in Dakar with frequent travel to Mauritania, the consultant will guide these societies on their journey toward modern, well‑functioning, and credible organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to strengthen institutional capacity, governance structures and leadership practices.
• Facilitate the design, delivery and sustainability of inclusive services across the societies.
• Collaborate with Red Cross/Red Crescent partners, public authorities and other stakeholders to ensure a coherent, long‑term development approach.
• Support co‑creation of development plans and monitor progress against agreed objectives.
• Travel regularly to Mauritania to deliver on‑site support and capacity‑building activities.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in organisational development, capacity building or governance within the humanitarian sector.
• Demonstrated ability to work with national societies, public authorities and international partners.
• Willingness to travel frequently within the region.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills.
