Site HR Manager / People Partner – Senegal

About the role

The Site HR Manager / People Partner will act as the strategic HR lead for Mondi’s new paper‑bags manufacturing site in Senegal. Reporting to the Site Managing Director, you will build the HR function from the ground up, support large‑scale recruitment and drive people initiatives that enable the site’s start‑up and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement core HR infrastructure, including payroll, statutory registrations and insurance policies.
• Lead mass recruitment across all organisational levels and manage onboarding processes.
• Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee advocacy, performance management, career development and workplace investigations.
• Partner with the Site MD, regional HR leaders and Centres of Excellence to translate global HR strategy into local actions.
• Oversee performance, talent management, compensation planning, training, development and new‑manager assimilation.
• Manage union and works‑council relations, ensuring issues are identified, investigated and resolved.
• Ensure full compliance with Senegalese labour legislation and promote an ethical work environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR management, preferably in start‑up or manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of local employment law and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to set up HR processes from scratch and handle large‑scale recruitment.
• Excellent advisory skills to support senior leadership and line managers.
